Ponea Patient App Authentication
The Ponea Patient App was the flagship app for Ponea Health, a Dutch-registered, Kenyan startup connecting patients with licensed doctors and medical facilities. While I was involved with the design of an entire suite of other platforms, this case study focuses on the unique user records verification and authentication of the patient app.

Design System
Refined the Ponea Health design system at scale, enabling its adoption across multiple platforms.

Background
In its first two years, Ponea Health launched multiple standalone products for its users. Later, the company wanted to consolidate these products and user records into a single, unified platform—the Patient App.
From this "Super App," users would need just one account to access all their records and services in one place.

Problem
Many users had used different emails and phone numbers to log into different services, creating confusion about which credentials to use for accessing the new platform.

Technical solution
In the new setup, all patient records would be managed within the patients microservice. Over afew weeks, each user's data was grouped and given a common ID.

The UI to make it all happen
With all data organized and grouped under one ID, it was my task to design how users would view all their credentials then select their preferred email address and phone number.
I designed a flow where they would start by entering their phone number. If this number belonged to a user that had used any Ponea Health service before, the user would be presented with all their other phone numbers and email addresses and then prompted to select their preffered ones.
If the phone number did not belong to any pre-existing Ponea Health app, they would be required to register a new account.
